Polyethylene PE 1000 sheet, commonly referred to as ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMW or UHMWPE), is one of the most popular engineering plastics. It provides excellent resistance to abrasion, chemicals, impact, and wear, while offering a very low coefficient of friction. Additionally, UHMW is non-toxic, odorless, and highly resistant to moisture.
UHMW plastic sheets are widely machined into wear strips, chain guides, and change parts, making them highly sought after in food processing and bottling operations. Specific grades of PE1000 are also utilized in bulk material handling applications to line chutes, hoppers, and dump trucks, helping to improve product flow and prevent ratholing and arching.

UHMW polyethylene features exceptionally high abrasion resistance. It outperforms many metallic materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and bronze. Wear resistance increases further as molecular weight rises.
Impact strength peaks at a molecular weight of around 2 million. This is due to a large amorphous region in the macromolecule which effectively absorbs substantial external impact energy.
Its low coefficient of friction and self-lubricating behavior make it an ideal material for bearing bushings, sliders, and protective linings, improving component lifespan and saving energy.
Highly stable in most acid and lye solutions, including concentrated hydrochloric acid. However, it can swell when exposed to aromatic or halogenated compounds under elevated temperatures.
UHMWPE has an extremely low water absorption rate. It is practically non-absorbent, preventing swelling in water and delivering much higher stability than standard nylon.
With a heat distortion temperature of 85°C under load, it operates reliably up to 90°C. It maintains outstanding low-temperature ductility even down to -269°C without embrittlement.
Provides excellent electrical properties across a wide temperature range, featuring high volume resistivity (10¹⁸ Ω·cm) and breakdown voltage (50 kV/mm).
Completely tasteless, odorless, and non-corrosive. It complies with food safety standards (FDA/USDA) for direct contact with food and pharmaceutical applications.
