1. What is the difference between HDPE and UHMWPE?
HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) has a molecular weight typically between 100,000 and 400,000 g/mol, offering good chemical resistance, low moisture absorption, and high stiffness. UHMWPE (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) features a molecular weight exceeding 3.0 million g/mol. This high density of polymer chains provides superior wear resistance, low coefficient of friction, high impact strength, and stress-crack resistance.
2. How do you verify the molecular weight of UHMWPE sheets?
Molecular weight cannot be tested via simple physical dimensions. We measure the intrinsic viscosity of the polymer dissolved in decahydronaphthalene (decalin) at 135°C in accordance with ISO 1628-3. The viscosity value is then converted to molecular weight using the Margolies equation.
3. Can UHMWPE and HDPE sheets be recycled?
Yes. BEYOND offers the RG1000 series, which integrates high-grade recycled PE materials with virgin resins. This formulation meets sustainable procurement guidelines while maintaining structural integrity, wear resistance, and cost efficiency.

5. How do you prevent UHMWPE sheets from warping during transport?
We use controlled-cooling cycles in our compression molding presses to eliminate internal thermal stresses. For transport, sheets are strapped flat on heavy duty wooden or steel pallets, wrapped with protective film, and stored away from direct heat sources to maintain flat surfaces upon delivery.
